Dr Andrei Zavadski is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary researcher and writer.

Born in Belarus in 1986, he holds a BA in regional studies from Moscow State University of International Relations / MGIMO-University (2009), a dual MA in public history from the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences and Manchester University (2014), and a PhD in media and communication studies from Freie Universität Berlin (2020). 

He is currently a research associate at TU Dortmund University’s Institute of Art and Material Culture and an associate member of the Centre for Anthropological Research on Museums and Heritage (CARMAH), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He is also a co-editor-in-chief of The February Journal.

His research is situated at intersections of memory studies, public history, museum studies, media studies, and anthropology. It focuses on memory in Eastern Europe, museums, and digital memories.

He is a member of the Memory Studies Association, ICOM Deutschland, VG Wort, and the International Federation for Public History (IFPH).
